Interiors

Plan cabinet, trim and interior repair requests with NorCal Handyman. Review mounting, finish and access details before requesting a local estimate.

Small interior repairs often involve the connection between a visible item and the material supporting it. Cabinet hinges, drawer runners, shelves, closet rods, screens and trim need different assessments. These guides help you identify what moves or looks damaged and explain the result you want without guessing which fastener or replacement part should be used.

Show the complete arrangement

Include a wide photo of the cabinet, opening or wall installation, followed by close-ups of accessible fittings and damage. Record dimensions, product markings and normal use. Compare an affected cabinet front with a working neighbor when that helps illustrate alignment. Unload a loose shelf or rod safely where possible, and stop using unstable components rather than loading them repeatedly to demonstrate the problem.

Decide what needs matching

Ask whether the estimate covers adjustment, hardware, damaged mounting material or replacement of the item itself. Identify the finish and profile you want preserved. Similar-looking hinges, trim and drawer parts may not fit the same installation, and a new component may leave an old finish outline visible. Concealed services and the supporting surface must be considered before drilling; appearance alone cannot establish a mounting’s capacity.

Keep spare pieces, manuals and earlier repair records available. Explain whether repositioning is acceptable and whether wall or paint restoration is part of the desired result. Browse the relevant guides below and send your room list, city and photographs through the estimate form.
